Messages are deducted per recipient and per segment. The amount deducted is the multiplication of both:
- Per recipient: each person who receives your message is counted separately.
- Per segment: a message longer than 160 characters is divided into segments, and each segment counts.
For example, if you send a 2-segment SMS to 10 recipients, 20 messages are deducted. If the SMS is short, with 1 segment, and sent to the same 10 recipients, 10 messages are deducted.
